Open-work bracelets are spring’s must-have statement piece.
Say goodbye to big, bold necklaces: With their light construction and peekaboo wrist coverage, open-work bracelets are this season’s trending accent piece among Washington women. “You’re tired of snowmaggedon, and you want to show some skin again,” says Tiny Jewel Box head buyer Anne Ferenz. “It also lends itself to floral, organic motifs that have negative space as well as easy, modern, clean designs.” Practically speaking, the style has been influenced by the rising cost of precious metals—less metal means a better price for the consumer and a new, exciting challenge for the designer. Ferenz points to Marli New York and Penny Preville, who are putting out covetable stackable and wear-alone versions. “It’s attractive to stylish shoppers,” she says, “because it’s softly sexy and feminine when you see skin through the jewelry… and it’s different!” 1155 Connecticut Ave. NW, 202-393-2747
