Washington Capitals defenseman Tom Wilson is a punisher on the ice and a stylish presence off it.
The photo crew was waiting at the Maxwell Apartments near the Washington Capitals’ practice facility in Ballston—the team got a last minute day off, but Wilson still arrived dressed to impress. “We represent the club at all times by how we dress,” says Wilson. “There is a team rule that we wear a suit to and from home and away games, as well as to and from the plane. Nights before the road games, we dress for business as well—not necessarily a full suit, but a nice peacoat, dress shirt and dress pants.” The 6-foot-4 defenseman’s suit of choice is one that’s well-tailored. He prefers Suitsupply and Trunk Club for their custom fabrics and made-to-order suits. He accentuates them with designer accessories like this Dalton Brody (3412 Idaho Ave. NW, DC, daltonbrody.com) bowler bag. He calls his look “classy and versatile.” “I try to have my own unique style, but I do talk to my stylists at the store about what they recommend.” Not suprisingly, in a room full of professional athletes, things can get competitive. “If you are dressed to the nines, you will for sure get some attention from the guys,” he says. Wilson and the Capitals also have the attention of the NHL this year, as they look to finish as champions in a year in which they were at or near the top of the standings all season. Looking good, Caps!
