Tom Clancy’s custom Ritz-Carlton penthouse is Baltimore’s top listing.
Imagine the books you could write—or just read—in this room.
Perched atop the Ritz-Carlton Baltimore, Tom Clancy’s 12,000-square-foot penthouse apartment is the most expensive listing on Baltimore’s real-estate market at $12 million. It was very much the brainchild of the late, great espionage author and his wife, who combined four units into one expansive home during a multi-million-dollar renovation in 2009. “[Mr. and Mrs. Clancy] pretty much customized the whole place,” says TTR Sotheby’s International Realty Vice President Shawn Breck. “It’s unlike anything else in The Ritz.” Save for the dark-wood library and the padded home theater, the grand entertaining spaces offer a modern feel, with floor-to-ceiling white. “It’s sort of like being in a cloud,” says Breck. “The white allows the sunlight to transform the space throughout the day.” The waterfront unit features six private terraces with views of the city’s skyline, a home gym, and the security and amenities of The Ritz. There’s also a refrigerated storage room, currently used to store furs, that could be converted into a wine cellar—a novel idea! Shawn Breck, TTR Sotheby’s, 202-641-1200
