Our EIC attends an interior design trend-themed meal at Room & Board.
What’s it like to dine in the middle of a showroom floor? Aesthetically pleasing to the very last detail.
A couple weeks ago, I was invited for a Spring 2017 interior design trend-inspired dinner (say that three times fast) at Room & Board, and as someone who changes their drapes like most people change their coffee filters, I couldn’t wait.
Sitting amongst a table full of design-inspired pros, each cleverly crafted, sensory themed course was a revelation of one of the season’s top trends. And together with Spilled Milk catering, R&B nailed it.
Here’s a peek at the highlighted trends, along with photos of the corresponding courses.
Trend: Pantone’s Color of the Year, Greenery.
Trend: Bringing the outdoors in, with wooden materials and accents. (Note: That delicate little egg shell was filled with the seasoning to be sprinkled onto the egg and tuna tartar. Talk about detail!)
Trend: Authentic, handmade pieces. (Hand-carved chicken counts!)
Trend: Retro lighting, which gives depth (à la layers of fruit and meringue) to design.
How do you narrow all that's wonderful in Washington - from fashion to food to fun - down to 70-some pages per issue? With a lot of trimming. Some insider finds, editor's picks, and often hilarious lines of celebrity interviews never see the light of, well, print. Enter: #TheCapFileEdit. Here, Capitol File editor Amy Moeller shares a behind the scenes look at CapFile, uncut.
