A British pastime gets a Yankee makeover—and what could be more American than a splash of bourbon?
Looking to spice up your tea time? Try the Ritz-Carlton Tyson's new bourbon-infused gentleman's tea service.
Ah, the autumnal pleasures of the American man: the World Series, the return of football, the hunting season, the afternoon tea.
Wait... one of those things doesn’t belong. Or does it? Gentlemen’s Tea has arrived at e Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner to bring a bit of manliness to its 25-year-old afternoon tradition. No raised pinky ngers required.
Here, they’ve elbowed aside the dainty cucumber sandwiches one might associate with bridal showers and the like. In their place: a lineup including pork belly, foie gras and Virginia Ham Bruschetta, plus a trio of desserts.
Oh, and the tea: It’s not like other teas—namely because of all the whiskey swimming around in it. You can opt for a Manhattan, stirred with chilled four-fruit tea. Or a pot of hot caramel blend tea, spiked with Gentleman Jack and infused with cigar smoke.
Alternatively, cut to the chase and ask for the R.M.T. (“Real Man’s Tea”), in which they present a glass of bourbon and a full tea service. Weekends through October, 1700 Tysons Blvd., McLean, VA, ritzcarlton.com/tysonscorner
