On February 24, 2016, staff and Washington insiders on behalf of the British Embassy in Washington, DC and the U.S. State Department, played a friendly rugby game at Cooper Field at Georgetown University, to kick off the Try Rugby USA campaign. Try Rugby USA is a capacity-building program for coaches, clubs, and players designed to bring together, develop the skills, and inspire the US rugby community. Ken Harvey, former Washington Redskin player, played for the Brits, to help highlight the affinity for sports on both sides of the Atlantic and the Redskins game this Autumn as part of the NFL international series in London. At the end of the day, rugby and diplomacy were the declared winners.
