Barnette Holston, the impeccably well dressed (and well versed) gent behind the popular blog DC Fashion Fool is heading to New York next week to check out the Fall/Winter 2017 Men's Fashion Week, where he'll be reporting live for Capitol File. He'll be taking over all of CapFile's social media outlets, so be sure to follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @CapitolFileMag, and find us on Facebook, for up-to-the-minute insights. Here, Holston tells us his thoughts on Men's Fashion Week and which designers he's excited to see.
Shortly I’ll be heading up to New York City for the Fall/Winter 2017 Men’s Fashion Week. In less than one week, all eyes will be on the runways to see the latest in men’s fashion. This will be the fourth season the fashion industry has held a standalone men’s fashion week since splitting the men and women’s shows for Spring/Summer 2016.
Each season, New York Fashion Week has continued to grow, proving that men are definitely stepping out of the shadow from women. With well over 50 runway shows and presentations covering a four-day period, there will be a lot of fashion to see and dissect. Returning favorites like Joseph Abboud, Billy Reid, and John Varvatos are all planning runway shows, and if the past is any indication, there will be some fantastic looks to covet. DC designer Brett Johnson will also be back, and I’m excited to get a firsthand look along with some behind the scenes coverage from this hometown hero.
In addition to the amazing runway shows, I’m also eager to see the street style. New York, this time of year, will be quite the spectacle.
