You’ve resolved to get fit this year, but now you need to actually do it. Enter indoor cycling and yoga, offered by the recently opened Sculpt DC in Penn Quarter. The boutique location spans more than 5,000 square feet and is the city’s first indoor yoga and cycling center. It offers classes ranging from lunchtime express sessions of 30 or 45 minutes to longer sessions of 75 minutes—boosting your endurance and burning calories.
Visit this month and you’ll find many exciting developments, says Madhuri Nayak, Sculpt DC’s owner and managing director, including new Sculpt Yoga Ripped classes that combine yoga with weights. You’ll also see more classes with extended formats, such as 60-minute and 75-minute Sculpt Cycle and Sculpt Fusion—the location’s “signature” class that incorporates cardio-boosting cycling and strengthening yoga in the same session. (Fun fact: The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise per week for adults age 18 to 64.)
“We offer everything you need under one roof for both your mental and physical well-being: cardio, strength training, yoga, and nutritional services [a 4-week seminar] starting in January,” says Nayak, noting that the studio welcomes beginners and expert cyclists and yogis. “We are accessible to everyone. I love cycling and yoga because they are low-impact options and great for people who are recovering from injuries, have bad knees, lower back issues, et cetera. We want everyone that walks through our doors to have an amazing experience, feel comfortable, and feel like they are getting a workout that is appropriate and challenging for them.” 950 F St. NW, 202-885-9950; firstname.lastname@example.org
