Drinks: Add Some Spice
Caroline Dutton of Caroline Dutton Events loves to add a little spice to her pre-dinner cocktails. “Consider using spices and flavors such as cinnamon and apple, and ingredients like ginger beer or a spiced rum,” Dutton says.
Food: Opt for Squash
Candy Borales, owner of Candy+Co. Events adores fall and winter squash. “One of the best fall meals I’ve ever eaten was butternut squash gnocchi with a goat cheese béchamel and sauteed kale," Borales says.
If you’re worried about falling temperatures once the sun goes down, Janice Carnevale of Bellwether Events advises to include a piping hot soup on your menu to keep guests warm.
Setting: Dine Alfresco
Hosting people on a patio or garden is one of the favorite ways Borales likes to entertain. “After summer, people tend to stay in town more and there seems to be more time to relax and reconnect before the flurry of holiday parties and resolutions,” she says.
Decorations: Incorporate Metallics
Dutton loves embracing traditional fall colors like oranges and deep reds. “We love adding metallics like gold or even rose gold to brighten things up a bit,” she says.
For evenings under the starry sky, Carnevale recommends placing simple yet elegant string lights around a home deck or patio.
