Eric Ziebold returns to DC’s fine dining scene with one space, two restaurants, and all of our attention.
As soon as Eric Ziebold departed CityZen, in 2014, DC’s most discerning diners began to await his return. Now the James Beard Award-winning toque is rewarding their loyalty with not one but two concepts, transforming a turn-of-the-century storefront in Shaw into a pair of artfully refined restaurants. “This dual format gives me the ability to be more spontaneous,” says Ziebold. “I can try new things in a way I could never do before.” Kinship rules the street level, all white walls and modernist lines, and its ever-shifting menu explores the breadth of the American experience—from a sublime lemon-accented roast chicken to French toast coronated with butter-poached lobster. Board the black-lacquered elevator and you’ll be whisked down to a subterranean space for the ultra-exclusive Métier, which pairs a luxe tasting menu with extraordinary service. “We want you to feel transported,” says Ziebold. “It should be a magical, once-in-a-lifetime experience.” 1015 7th St. NW, 202-737-7700
