Make the craziness of this year’s election all the more entertaining with one (or two or three) of these politically-themed cocktails around town.
There’s no need to wait for November 8th to cast your vote thanks to ENO Wine Bar’s Clinton vs. Trump wine flights. For fans of the Dem nominee, the I’m With Her trio features three wines from New York (a.k.a. the state where Clinton served as a senator) that boast two rieslings from the Finger Lakes and a chardonnay from the North Fork. Republican supporters can go for the Make America Great Again flight consisting of red and white pours from Pennsylvania (where Trump attended college) and a lush red from New York. 2810 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, 202-295-2826
Before either candidate can officially call dibs on the Oval Office, this DC locale is serving up two delightful drinks sure to make imbibers fans of both parties—at least while the cocktails are flowing. Go for the Build That Wall which blends muscat grape purée, Champagne vinegar, spiced honey syrup, and soda, or opt for the Madam President which combines Cynar, Giffard Apricot, Angostura rum, lemon juice, and sparking wine. 800 Connecticut Ave. NW, 202-463-8700
Enjoy a tropical-looking take on the election with the Madam Presidenta concoction, which features mezcal, blue Curaçao, El Dorado 8-year rum, lime, and Orgeat syrup. Or go on the opposing side with The Apprentice, an on-the-rocks mix of mezcal, Campari, orange juice, and soda. 1250 9th St. NW, 202-621-9695
This spot knows that the election comes down to the swing states, so they are paying homage with two cocktails sure to please voters. The Panhandle, a nod to Florida, mixes Bayou Spiced and Bayou Silver rums with agave nector and fresh lime, while the Great Lakes blends Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Dolin Rouge, and Italian cherry juice. Or throw your drinking allegiance behind a candidate with the Stoli and Chambord The Donald, or the Few Breakfast Gin and Green Chartreuse Madame President. 415 New Jersey Ave. NW, 202-393-7777
Moon Drops grape purée is the shining star of this spot’s Make America Great Again libation, combining the hanging fruit with spiced Sorghum syrup, sherry vinegar, and soda. On the other side, George Dickel Rye Whisky, Flor de Caña 4-year rum, Rocky Mountain peach liqueur, and apple cider vinegar join forces for the I’m With Her drink. 701 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, 202-393-0701
