1 - Color Me VioletWhen celebrity makeup artist Erwin Gomez walked away from his popular Georgetown salon this past winter, most of his stylists were quick to follow. Regular clients were left without their beauty lifelines, and roots grew out, eyebrows went untamed, and ends were split. Now that the dust has settled, so have several of Gomez’s “refugees,” and they’ve done so just a couple of doors down at Violet Hair and Skin Care, a quaint boutique salon owned by Jimmy Cehreli and Mesut Ozaydin. Long known for doing the hair of some of the city’s most stylish (and insider) citizens— including Ambassador Nancy Brinker and media types Jake Tapper, Savannah Guthrie and Katty Kay—the pair has adopted a “more the merrier” approach to the expanded team: At press time, stylists Jacob Broadstreet, Peggy Loakim, Stacy King and Rudy Rodriguez all were happily ensconced at Violet. Another major coup is the addition of Kari Slansky, a well-known makeup artist and eyebrow-grooming goddess who trained under Gomez. 1513 Wisconsin Ave. NW;
