The Stylish Meridian Ball
A quiet moment outside the Meridian Ball
The Meridian Ball has the kind of stylish panache of an intimate dinner soirée, coupled with the pulsing excitement of, say, New York’s Met Ball. While the majority of women don full-length gowns—dresses by the likes of Carmen Marc Valvo and Vera Wang—most will kick up their heels to dance at the afterparty, held at the stately Meridian House. Prior to dancing, guests dine at the foreign ambassadors’ residences, as well as the historic White-Meyer House on Meridian’s campus.
Held on October 14, the gala will be chaired by Ambassador Mary M. Ourisman. The Washington political elite will lend their support through the Ball Honorary Committees, which this year includes First Lady Michelle Obama as honorary chair. At the end of it all, proceeds from the ball will support Meridian’s global leadership exchanges, cultural exhibitions, conferences, and seminars, which foster international understanding and innovative global leadership through the open exchange of ideas, people, and culture. How stylish, indeed.
