Eva Longoria chats about her new fashion collection with The Limited and what she wears during her day to day life.
Is there anything Eva Longoria can’t do? She’s an actress, director, producer, activist, all-around #girlboss, and now, she’s officially a fashion designer. The petite powerhouse just launched the Eva Longoria Collection with The Limited, which is chock-full of stylish pieces that range from casual weekend wear to chic office attire. Think hip-hugging pencil skirts, blazers, and cheeky “I get better with wine” graphic tees.
To celebrate the launch, we caught up with Longoria to learn more about the collection, her go-to confidence-boosting outfits, and what fellow actress she’d love to see in her designs.
What inspired your new collection?
EVA LONGORIA: I'm an avid sewer. I’ve been sewing my whole life. I just love the creativity behind it. So I knew I wanted to do a line, but I just never really had the time to dedicate fully to it until now. It’s truly another full-time job. It’s just so much work, especially when you care so deeply like I do about the end product. I’m involved in every aspect of the line, which I love.
What elements of your personal style did you incorporate into the designs?
EL: Oh my gosh, everything! [Laughs] This line truly is my DNA—everything I just wear, everything that I feel comfortable in, everything that empowers me and inspires me. I call it the Work to Wine [collection] because every woman wants to have a versatile wardrobe that they can wear to work and out with friends, and so I really wanted to include pieces that are able to transition to other parts of your day other than work.
What’s your daily uniform?
EL: My daily uniform is jeans and a blazer. I live in jeans and a blazer because I have to sit in meetings all day long. I love a jean that acts like a spank and sucks you in, and yet is comfortable enough that you can wear it all day. And also, I’m a dress person. You don’t have to think about it. I love a good dress that you can just zip up and go.
What are your favorite trends for fall?
EL: Well, baseball jackets are one of them. That was one of the first things that sold out [the day the collection launched]. You see them everywhere. And then, of course, the cape. Capes are in, but the difference is my cape is super functional. I’ve worn so many capes in the past that you can’t raise your arms in it or it falls off your shoulders.
What are some of your tips for transitioning an outfit from work to happy hour?
EL: You can wear one of our dresses to work with a jacket or a blazer over it for a professional looking outfit, but the minute you take the jacket or the blazer off it becomes sexy.
Speaking of happy hour. What’s your favorite type of wine?
EL: Red wine!
What celebrity would you love to see wearing your pieces?
EL: Kerry Washington. I think Kerry would be great in my dresses—the A-line one, the flirty one, the classic one. She’s just an amazing style icon.
