When Goodstone Inn & Estate first opened in 1999 as a small B&B, all owner Mark Betts wanted was to prepare a special breakfast for his guests using genuinely fresh farm eggs. A dozen years later, Goodstone has become a full-fledged restaurant and is part of the Farm-to-Fork Loudoun initiative, which promotes the growth of and the ties between Loudoun County’s restaurants, wineries and farms. Goodstone’s wine list supports many local labels, and the restaurant sources organic herbs, vegetables and ingredients from its own gardens, chicken coop and yard, as well as local farmers’ cattle. “Many people think we’re saving money. If you really pay attention to the real costs, it is expensive, but that’s not the point.
