Now you can toast to something other than happy hour: The Corcoran Gallery of Art has introduced a new late-night program, Corcoran Uncorked. Running every Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., the weekly events offer cultural programming along with unique wines and drinks from top mixologists and wine directors at Todd Gray’s Muse at the Corcoran.
“[It] will be different every Wednesday, always responding to exhibitions coming up. It’s inspired by things going on in the museum and the college,” says Rachel Cothran, the Corcoran’s director of public relations. “We decided it was important to give people a good option to come to a museum during the week after work.”
Tomorrow, February 6, the gallery will feature a preview of The New Jewish Table: Modern Seasonal Recipes for Traditional Dishes, a cookbook authored by Todd Gray and Ellen Kassoff Gray, the married restaurateurs behind DC’s Equinox and Muse. First indulge in a glass of Pelter wine from northern Israel and nosh on falafel. Then follow your tasting with a viewing of Bezalel on Tour, an art exhibition from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, with whom the Corcoran College of Art + Design has formed a partnership.
Next Wednesday, February 13, learn about the country’s craft wines from Andrew Stover, founder of Vino50. Later that night, in honor of Valentine’s Day, try a docent-led tour of the love stories related to the Corcoran’s art, in what Cothran calls a “great, affordable date night option.”
Kassoff Gray says that the new events offer a more exciting way to experience the gallery’s culture and that they “will run continuously for the foreseeable future.” Corcoran Uncorked is free to members and includes one drink ticket; tickets are $15 for the public. 500 17th St. NW, 202-639-1700
